Just when you thought you couldn't love the Subaru brand even more, the automaker debuted the gorgeous 2017 Subaru Impreza at this year's New York International Auto Show.
Sure, we're always excited to see what a new model year will bring, but it's more than just that. The Impreza marks the debut of the new Subaru Global Platform as well. That means a 70 percent increase in body rigidity compared to the current Impreza. Subaru says it will also see a reduction in body roll by 50 percent.
Subaru models are already lauded for their safety reputation, and the 2017 Impreza is certainly no exception. The new platform will help the vehicle improve crash energy absorption by 40 percent. The Impreza brings back the familiar EyeSight® system (Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Pre-Collision Braking and Lane Departure and Sway Warning, also Lane Keep Assist)--and more. What's categorically under "more?" We're talking Reverse Automatic Braking (the backup cam should help already with obstacles, but the extra set of eyes helps!) and a new four-way Tire Pressure Monitoring System.
Plus, who can argue with more power? The power will increase from 148-horsepower up to 152.
Just like our current models, the 2017 Impreza will be offered in four trim lines: 2.0i base, Premium, Sport, and Limited. It will go on sale later this year.
