The 2020 Chevy Silverado is Getting a Segment-Leading 3.0-Liter Duramax Turbo Diesel Engine Option

When it comes to owning a full-size pickup, only the highest levels of power will do. The first year of the new decade is shaping up to be legendary, as every auto manufacturer around the world is racing to deliver true next-generation offerings. In the case of the 2020 Chevy Silverado, one of the many things it's going to do differently is give Fort Collins, CO owners segment leading horsepower and torque when equipped with the all-new 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo Diesel engine.

The engine will be the perfect balance point between performance and efficiency, as it will produce a power output of 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. What's even more impressive is that the engine will be able to produce 95 percent of its torque at just 1,250 rpm, creating the smoothest ride Loveland, CO truck owners have ever seen from a full-size pickup truck.

The engine will be paired to a ten-speed automatic transmission that will be equipped with a centrifugal pendulum absorber torque converter. In fewer words, that means Greely, CO drivers will feel a lot less vibration for a much smoother ride.

Another major innovation of the new 3.0-Liter Duramax Turbo Diesel engine is its lighter weight design. It's constructed from a cast aluminum alloy that reduces its weight by 25 percent, while still being strong enough to withstand the rigors of the high combustion pressures inside the engine.

This reduction in weight allows the 2020 Silverado to channel more power while still being able to maintain the efficiency you expect from a diesel engine. Suffice it to say; there's a lot to look forward to with this new engine.
