While Chevrolet may have stated it will no longer be airing TV ads during the Super Bowl, the American automaker is still staying involved with football across the pond. Trading in a quarterback for a central midfielder, Chevrolet recently announced a sponsorship deal with Manchester United of the English Premier League, and one of the most successful soccer teams in the world.

Winners of 19 league titles, 12 in the last 20 years, Sir Alex Ferguson's Red Devils, who are owned by an American group, boast a worldwide fan base of 659 million people with many fans in China, where Chevrolet and GM sell more cars than any other country.  Coupled with the fact that soccer is no longer on the periphery of the American sports scene, as Premier League games are shown on national television to great ratings, and the vast amount of people in the greater Fort Collins area and beyond playing the game, inking a marketing deal with a team that has such a global reach makes a lot of sense.

Another reason of course is the rising car sales numbers of new Chevrolet in international markets, with six of every ten new Chevy vehicles sold being from outside the United States.

While Chevrolet hasn't released any of the budget details for their sponsorship of Manchester United, we here at Dellenbach Motors believe it will fall within the $4-5 billion overall advertising budget that the American automaker has set forth in years past.
