Maybe you've already heard that the Chevrolet Malibu is gaining a new Eco trim in the 2013 model year... But did you know that the lauded mid-size sedan is also gaining a new turbocharged variant? That's right, the 2013 Malibu lineup is shaping up quite nicely, and we here at Dellenbach Motors are quite excited for it. After all, with the introduction of these new trim levels, Chevy is rounding out the vehicle's mix quite well.

Thus far, Chevrolet has kept a fairly tight lid on any details surrounding the new turbocharged variant, but if we had to venture a guess, we'd turn to another forthcoming GM model, the Cadillac ATS for some clues. After all, the new mid-size offering from Caddy features a new turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that hits around 270 horsepower. If this sounds like a good fit for the new Malibu variant, it's because it would be. Of course, we shouldn't be quoted on that, as it's merely speculation.

As for the Malibu Eco... It will deliver around 182 hp and just over 170 lb.-ft. of torque, and it's set to feature GM eAssist. This way, the Malibu can feature both respectable performance and envious fuel economy; two things that drivers look for in a solid mid-size sedan.

When will these new models be available? Right now, all we know is that they'll be hitting the market some time in 2012. More specifically, however, we know that the Eco will arrive first, followed by the Turbocharged model, then the 190-hp, 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder trim. As for a specific date... You'll have to stay tuned for that one.
