The Chevrolet Camaro is an iconic vehicle, winning over countless drivers in the Fort Collins area and beyond for many years. Now, Chevy wants to capture drivers hearts again, with the revamped Camaro, marking the second installment of the classic muscle car since it re-entered the market in 2002.
While Chevrolet designers and engineers are spinning their creative wheels, sure to create another hit, there aren't many details out there on the second coming of the new Camaro, the model's sixth-generation variant in its history. However, some hints have been dropped about what to expect from the Camaro.
First, it's likely the Camaro sees a sold weight reduction, according to Chevrolet chief engineer Al Oppenheiser. As for the engine, Chevy has hinted that a boost to the new 2.0-liter Ecotec turbo four found on the Chevrolet Malibu. Designers aren't looking to stray away from the classic Camaro look, but there will be some exterior styling changes, adding a few updates here and there to give the Camaro a new feel. Chevrolet feels these design and engineering objectives will give the next generation Camaro a fresh look, but also build on its current success, and not lose sight of the fact that the American automaker has 40 percent of the market.
