Three New City Car Concepts From Suzuki

We here at Dellenbach Motors are always looking to upcoming auto shows for what the future may hold for our favorite Japanese automaker. For instance, the Tokyo Motor Show is quickly approaching, and with it comes word of some exciting new Suzuki models.

That's right, city cars are the name of the game this year, and moving forward, which is why more and more automakers are developing models that we can either be plugged in and recharged or that simply just get great gas mileage by ditching unneeded space. Suzuki, however, is taking a slightly different approach to entering this exciting new segment by working on not one, but three different concepts at the same time.

We'll start things off simply enough with the Suzuki Swift EV concept. This vehicle is based on the already popular Swift, which is available overseas. The electric variant of the Swift makes use of a lithium-ion battery, while keeping a small, range-extending, gasoline-powered engine on hand too, which kicks in after between 12 and 18 miles of pure-electric travel.

Next up is the Suzuki Regina. It's a lightweight city car that can seat four. However, while it's heavy on room for occupants, it's light in weight. More specifically, it only weighs 1,609 pounds, and it achieves an incredible 72.3 mpg. Another thing that the Regina will be big on is entertainment and convenience, as it features a wide range of touch-screen panels and clear glass in the center console.

And finally, we have the more interesting concept of the show, the Suzuki Q. It's a heavily stylized electric vehicle that's really for those who travel six miles or less to work and back every day. It only seats two, but still manages to keep them comfortable. Furthermore, there'y plenty of room for other cargo, as the cabin remains roomy by the minimalist approach to the vehicle's interior.
